La Traviata
Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, adapted by Francesco Maria Piave from Alexandre Dumas Jr.’s novel, “The Lady of the Camellias,” is one of the most performed and acclaimed works internationally. The opera tells the story of love in its many aspects: the happy reunion, the pleasure of bodies and minds, the struggle against convention, social condemnation, the pain of separation, and ultimately, death. Aquiles Machado’s staging is an adapted classical version.
