El lago de los cisnes, Ballet Clásico Internacional

Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake is the quintessential work of classical ballet and the ultimate expression of the Russian school of dance. It premiered in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Prince Siegfried learns that he must choose a wife at the next ball. In a nearby forest, on the shore of a mysterious lake, he is captivated by the beauty of Princess Odette, who is under a spell cast by the powerful and evil sorcerer Rothbart: a swan by day, a human by night. The curse can only be broken by the arrival of true love. Siegfried, too, falls prey to the sorcerer’s deceptions, who arranges for him to be betrothed to Rothbart’s daughter, Odile (the Black Swan), who bears a striking resemblance to the swan princess, at the Grand Palace Ball. Aware of the deception, the prince returns to the lake once more to fight for Odette’s love.
