Carmen Morales has received an unexpected offer: to collaborate on a musical that will revisit her mother’s life and most famous songs. Carmen isn’t entirely sure if this project should go ahead. It’s been twenty years since her mother’s death, and there are certain topics she doesn’t want to revisit. Moreover, and above all, she considers her mother irreplaceable and unforgettable. So, she’s said no. Because of this firm refusal, the project’s author/director, somewhat desperate, has asked her—begged her, to be more precise—to come to the theater and read the script with him. He fearlessly offers her the freedom to cut, change, and add whatever she deems appropriate. For 90 minutes, they will revisit together the funniest and most endearing moments of her mother’s life, her father’s life, her own, and the fascinating history of our country. Once the time is up, will Carmen agree to let this wacky musical premiere?
