Gorsy Edú “El percusionista”
Stories from Behind the Curtain
An elderly musician instructs his grandson, transmitting ancestral wisdom and philosophies through music. Time passes in the village with the boy immersed in his traditions. True to the African proverb, “The days that make children grow are the same that age the elderly,” the grandfather falls ill. As a consequence of his old age, he begins to lose his sight. Driven by a desire to cure his grandfather, the boy decides to leave the village and migrate to the big cities in search of a remedy. The young man sets off for Europe, “Sí beyëng,” a world unknown to him, carrying with him only the knowledge of his people, encapsulated in ancestral melodies and rhythms.- Performance at 11:00 AM for EDUCATIONAL CENTERS ONLY
