Los coles con la OJPA y El Principal

The OJPA, the Alicante Provincial Youth Orchestra, is a symphony orchestra founded in 2009. Since its inception, the OJPA has played a fundamental role in the training of over 1,000 musicians. A musical career is a long journey that begins at a young age, but few manage to complete it in its entirety. Being part of this orchestra provides young people with a sense of commitment and enthusiasm, motivating them to continue their training with passion. This is a source of pride and satisfaction for all those who are part of this initiative and contribute to its development with their effort and dedication.

This unique project’s primary objective is to foster and develop the talent of young musicians throughout the Province of Alicante. This implies a fundamental truth: training musicians is also educating our youth, transmitting values such as effort, perseverance, commitment, camaraderie, and collaboration in a didactic and pedagogical way, inspiring them to be better both in their discipline and in their daily lives. Currently, the OJPA (Asturias Youth Orchestra) is composed of 80 young people between the ages of 8 and 23, with an average age of 15, under the direction of its founder and conductor, Francisco Maestre. During the academic year, the musicians live together and rehearse weekly to prepare for the concerts that the OJPA performs throughout the province. This allows them to share their passion with the public and enjoy well-deserved recognition.

These concerts represent a fundamental opportunity for preparation and international exposure for the orchestra, especially through its participation in prestigious festivals such as the Summa Cum Laude Festival in Vienna, where it has garnered significant accolades. In fact, the OJPA was the first and only youth orchestra in the world to win the First Prize with Excellence in the 2015, 2017, and 2018 editions. In 2014, it solidified its position as the Spanish youth orchestra with the most appearances in this international competition. And in July 2025, in addition to returning to the Summa Cum Laude Festival—where it was once again honored with an award—, the OJPA had the honor of performing a concert at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, one of the most prestigious and renowned musical institutions in the world.
