Turandot
In Pekin in legendary times every suitor for the hand of the beautiful princess Turandot has to answer three riddles or die.
Calaf gets the answers to the questions from the cruel Turandot but she begs her father to release her from the betrothal. Calaf sets her a new challenge; she will accept death if she discovers her name before dawn. The princess reveals that her name is “Love”.
