El Barbero de Sevilla

The Barber of Seville (original Italian title, Il barbiere di Siviglia) is an opera buffa in two acts with music by Gioachino Rossini and libretto in Italian by Cesare Sterbini, based on the comedy of the same name (1775) by Pierre-Augustin de Beaumarchais. The premiere (under the title Almaviva, o la precaución inútil) took place on 20 February 1816, at the Teatro Argentina, Rome. It was one of the first Italian operas to be performed in the United States of America, premiering there at the Park Theater in New York on 29 November 1825.This opera by Rossini has proved to be one of the great masterpieces of comedy in music.
