“Elektra” possesses a strong emotional charge because its essential “leitmotif” has endured through the ages: “revenge”. The objective is to transmit to the spectator emotions that are alien to everyday life; the aim is not to provoke in the spectator a catharsis that promotes sensations that he or she cannot experience in any other place or event of daily life. The chorus sets the rhythm and emotional tone for almost the entire work. The ethnic chants and choreographies acquire a power above the characters themselves.
